Meet your private guide at your Hong Kong accommodations and then travel by public transport (own expense) to the MTR Diamond Hill station. During your four-hour exploration of Kowloon, you’ll sample a cross-section of the area’s wide range of temples, gardens, and markets.

Check out Nian Gardens, an eight-acre (3.5-hectare) green space designed using the landscaping priniciples of the Tang Dynasty. Each tree, rock, and water feature is meticulously designed in harmony the garden’s overall aesthetic, and guests typically walk through the area in a one-way circular path. You’ll also stop by the Chi Lin Nunnery, a sprawling religious complex that’s home to lotus ponds, more than dozen halls, and five-floor Buddha pagoda.

Continue your Kowloon adventure by checking out Wong Tai Sin Temple, a Taoist religious complex visited by tens of thousands of worshippers each year. During your visit you can also get your fortune told, a process that begins by shaking a bamboo cylinder full of sticks until one falls out on the ground. You’ll take the number from your stick to a fortune teller at one of the temple stalls, who will help interpret your future.

The trip will also visit several Kowloon-area markets. Stop by Sneaker Street, where you can find a new pair of kicks from some of the world’s best-known shoe companies, and head to “Ladies Street,” one of the most popular open-air markets in Kowloon. Shop for items like watches, handbags, clocks, iPhone cases, t-shirts, and more. At the end of the trip you’ll head back to your Hong Kong accommodations by public transport with your guide.
