- Start your tour at Fisherman's Wharf, one of the most vibrant places in the city. Visit the exciting attractions at Pier 39, watch the popular sea lion colony and see many other sights along the waterfront. The open top bus gives you the best views while you drive along the Barbary Coast, the Embarcadero, Ferry Building, Union Square, City Hall, North Beach, the Palace of Fine Arts, Golden Gate Park and much more.
- Snap a picture of Chinatown's 'Dragon Gates' and try their delicious food, or shop at Union Square in many of its luxury stores. Take a stroll around Alamo Square to see the world-famous Painted Ladies Victorian houses, also known as "Postcard Row". In Haight Ashbury you will be taken back in time to the “Summer of Love”, surrounded by colorful murals and fine art dedicated to San Francisco’s hippie culture.
- The highlight of the tour is the ride across San Francisco’s most iconic landmark, the Golden Gate Bridge. What date is my Alcatraz Tour?
The date you chose upon booking will be the date for your Alcatraz tour. You can use the Hop-On Hop-Off tours at anytime (even a day prior or a day after your Alcatraz visit).
What is the starting point for my tour?
The Hop-On Hop-Off Tour departs from 99 Jefferson Stree (at the corner of Mason Street).The Alcatraz Island ferry leaves from Pier 33, BUT you need to be sure to already have your ticket in hand after redeeming your voucher with the provider online because NO VOUCHERS ARE EXCEPTED at Pier 33 directly.
Can I go to Alcatraz Island at any time I wish?
No. You will receive a specific departure time for your ferry ride to Alcatraz Island upon redeeming your voucher with Skyline Sightseeing. The assigned departure time cannot be changed. You need to take the ferry at the given time or your ticket will be lost. Once on Alcatraz Island you are free to spend as much time as you like - ferries go back to San Francisco approx. every 30 minutes.
How long does the Alcatraz Tour take?
You can stay on Alcatraz Island as long as you like, but allow at least 3-4 hours for the entire expereince (cruising to the Island, taking the cellhouse audio tour, exploring the rest of the Island and its historic exhibits, and returning via ferry to Pier 33). You should line up about 30 min prior to your departure time.
What are the operating hours for the buses?
The buses depart daily (except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year’s Day) from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
How frequently do the hop-on hop-off buses run?
The buses operate every 30-60 minutes (depending on season and traffic)
What are the operating hours for the office?

The tour is often sold out in advance and reservations should be made as early as possible IMPORTANT: The departure time is allocated automatically and will be provided upon reconfirming the tour with the operator a few days prior to departure. The set time slot cannot be changed. We recommend to keep your day flexible until you receive your confirmed departure time. Once you reach Alcatraz Island you can stay as long as you like; ferries return approx. every 30 minutes The date chosen upon booking will be the date for your Alcatraz tour; the Hop-On Hop-Off pass is flexible and you can start the bus tour at any time In order to receive your tickets and your exact departure time you must check-in online with the operator at the latest 72 hours prior to departure (further instructions will be on your voucher)
