Learn the unknown history of the nation’s capital while sipping on local beer!

Duration

2 hours and 15 minutes

About

D.C. Crawling's Insider's Pub Crawl mixes hidden history, craft beer, and good times into a fun and unique way to see our nation's capital. Drink local beers in iconic D.C. bars while your expert local guide shares the unknown stories of D.C.'s past and present. Learn the history they left out in 8th-grade social studies class – including the founding of the city, George Washington’s exploits as master brewer, tales of CIA spies, and so much more on our Insider’s Pub Crawl.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the crawls start/meet?

The pub crawl meets in Lafayette Square at the Andrew Jackson Statue. The address of Lafayette Square is Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest and 16th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001. The statue of Andrew Jackson is located in the middle of the park and surrounded by a fence. You’ll see Andrew Jackson riding a horse atop a pedestal. Your guide will be at the front of the statue with a D.C. Crawling sign.

How do I get to the pub crawl?

The closest metro stops are McPherson Square and Farragut North Station. You can take the Orange Line, Silver Line, and Blue Line to McPherson Square Station and it is a 4 minute walk to the Andrew Jackson Statue. Or you can take the Red Line to Farragut North Station and it is a 7 minute walk to the Andrew Jackson Statue.

What time are the pub crawls?

We offer pub crawls twice daily at 4:00pm and 7:00pm. Each pub crawl lasts approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

What happens on your pub crawl?

On our Insider’s Pub Crawl you’ll visit 4 iconic D.C. bars with an expert local guide who will share the unknown stories of the nation’s capital. Enjoy craft beer with fellow crawlers from around the globe and learn the history they left out in 8th grade social studies class.

Which bars do we visit?

The route of the pub crawls depends on a few different factors like day of the week and size of the crawl. Therefore, we won’t know the exact route until the crawl starts. All of the bars we visit are iconic D.C. bars located around The White House.

Can I bring someone who is under 21/a baby?

By law, all guests must be at least 21 years old and have proper ID even if the guest is not going to drink. Therefore, we cannot allow anyone under the age of 21 on the crawl, including children and infants.

What does the tour cover/what history we do learn?

On our Insider’s Pub Crawl, you’ll learn the unknown history of the nation’s capital - you’ll hear about the creation of the city, tales of George Washington, secrets of Prohibition and so much more.

Are private pub crawls available?

Yes they are! To book a private pub crawl, please call 1-888-777-2080. (The call center can transfer the caller to this number as well)

Can I book for just 1 person?

Yes, you absolutely can! Come and meet some new friends.

What time should I arrive for the crawl?

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early in order to check into the crawl as the tour will leave on time. Please be sure that everyone in your group has their ID showing they are 21+ years old. Before arriving, please have everyone in your group complete the e-waiver that was sent to the email address you provided for your booking.

What do I need to bring to the crawl/do I need to print out the tickets?

No need to bring a physical ticket with you. You can check in using your name. Please be sure that everyone in your group has their ID showing they are 21+ years old. Before arriving, please have everyone in your group complete the e-waiver that was sent to the email address you provided for your booking.

How far in advance should I purchase my ticket?

We advise that you purchase your ticket as soon as possible as we do sell out and walk-up sales are not allowed.

The crawl is sold out. Can I still buy a ticket?

Unfortunately we cannot sell you tickets to a sold out crawl. We do have other tours available for sale.

Is beer included in the price of the ticket?

We offer 2 different ticket options. Our Happy Hour package is $90 and includes 4 beers on draft of your choice - one at each pub. The other option is our Dry Run which is $50 and does not include any prepaid drinks. With either ticket option you can still purchase drinks directly from the bars themselves. Please note that our Happy Hour ticket only includes beer and not wine or liquor.

If you prefer wine or liquor, we suggest buying the Dry Run ticket and buying your drinks directly from the bars.

How much walking is involved?

All of our bars are within a couple of blocks of each other.

What is the average age of the people on the tour?

We have guests of all age ranges as long as they are 21 plus years old. From young backpackers to retirees, our crawls are designed for everyone to enjoy.

What is the weather/cancellation/rescheduling policy?

We crawl rain or shine and sales are final unless you purchased our Tour Insurance when you bought your ticket. Tour Insurance is $5 per head and allows you to cancel or reschedule your tour up to 24 hours before the start of the tour. If you have not purchased Tour Insurance, then sales are final.
